Craig Huffman

Managing Partner

Mr. Huffman has over two decades of experience as an entrepreneur.  Most recently, he was a Co-Founder and Principal of Ascendance Partners. Ascendance Partners is a Chicago-based real estate private equity firm, established in 2006, focused on commercial real estate investment in metropolitan Chicago.  Ascendance has sponsored institutional real estate funds for foundations, endowments, pension funds, family offices and high net worth individuals. Prior to Ascendance, Mr. Huffman worked in diverse senior management roles in the sectors of entrepreneurship, education, non-profit and politics. Notably, Mr. Huffman served as the Assistant Treasurer for two re-election campaigns of Illinois State Senator Barack Obama and he was also a fellow in the 2000 class of Leadership Greater Chicago.  Mr. Huffman holds a B.A. from Morehouse College, a master’s degree and an MBA from the University of Chicago.

Vance Kenney

Managing Partner

Mr. Kenney is an established entrepreneur, business builder, and economic development expert in the Northern Indiana area. He is the owner and Founder of 504 Redevelopment, LLC, a real estate development firm committed to advancing the urban landscape, a Managing Partner of Advance Energy, LLC , a multi-million dollar fuel supply business that supplies fuel to Midway and O’Hare airports in Chicago. He is considered one of the pioneers in the ongoing redevelopment of Gary, Indiana. Vance is an active speaker and influential business leader. Mr. Kenney holds a B.A. from Northeastern Oklahoma State College.

Jeremy Diamond

Chief Operating Officer

Mr. Diamond has over 2 decades of experience launching and leading technology companies. He has been instrumental building and scaling several technology businesses on a global scale, specifically companies with recurring revenue models. Notably, he was a founding team member of Capital IQ in New York City, scaling from pre-revenue, now generating in excess of $1B in annual recurring revenue. Mr. Diamond has held executive leadership roles at Morningstar, managing a global division with +500 full time employees, while driving exponential growth. Mr. Diamond is an active advisor and board member to many private technology firms in the Europe and the U.S. and holds a B.A. from Gustavus Adolphus College.

Micaela Vargas

Vice President of Business Development

Ms. Vargas brings over seven years of experience in politics, education and business. A native of the South Side of Chicago, Ms. Vargas recently served as Chief of Staff to Cook County Commissioner Bridget Gainer. In this role, she managed Commissioner Gainer’s office and she served as the lead on legislation that impacted thousands of individuals and families in Illinois. Legislation drafted by Ms. Vargas was featured in the Chicago TribuneCrain’s Chicago Business and the New York Times. In addition to Commissioner Gainer’s office, Ms. Vargas’ professional experience includes work for the University of Chicago’s Office of Civic Engagement and work as an independent political consultant.  She currently serves on the board of directors for the non-profits Mujeres Latinas En Accion, in Chicago’s Pilsen neighborhood, and the National Diversity Advisory Council for the American Red Cross in Washington, D.C. Ms. Vargas received her Bachelor’s Degree in International Studies and Business Administration from DePaul University in Chicago.

Mr. Magnifico is Chief Technology Officer for Liberty Advisor Group, a consultancy firm advising the Fortune 500 in how to adapt to a changing technology and data driven marketplace. Mr. Magnifico has a 25 year history of success in management consulting and industry. Skilled in integration and divestiture planning/ execution, Enterprise Architecture design, implementation, and IT Strategy. Mike has B.S. in computer Science from Purdue University.

Ken Porrello

Technology Investor

Mr. Porrello brings over 40 years of experience in technology strategy, technology implementation and cyber security.  Ken currently serves on the board of SteelCloud, LLC, a leading provider of cyber security solutions to the Federal sector.  Ken chairs the Board of Advisors of the McCormick School of Engineering at Northwestern University and serves as Executive Director of the CEO Perspectives program, a pre-eminent leadership development experience for senior executives of Fortune 500 and equivalent companies.  Previously, Ken served for 30 years as a member of Deloitte Consulting, where he served in a number of executive roles in the US and India.

Jack Pressman

Chief Technology Advisor

Mr. Pressman is the Global Data Center Solutions Practice Manager for Netrix, LLC. Mr. Pressman has over 35 years of experience developing and operating mission critical IT facilities. Recent work includes the rollout of the largest ever Autonomous Vehicle Rollout, deploying the data center + compute need backbone of the project. Mr. Pressman speaks globally and is a subject matter expert in building micro power facilities and EMP protected data centers. Mr. Pressman holds a B.S. in computer science from Northwestern University.

Joe Roets

Joe Roets, CEO of Dragonchain

Joe is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Dragonchain. He has over 20 years of experience in software architecture, focused primarily on security and scalability. He has created and led multiple technology startups, beginning in the mid-1990s. Joe is a visionary and thought leader in blockchain technology having led or contributed to projects in the space since 2010 at companies such as Overstock, Coinbase, Symbiont, and the Walt Disney Company.

Nicholas Salimbene

Owner/Chairman, DataCloud

Throughout his career, Nicholas has turned vision into reality and ideas into assets to unlock the potential of organizations and individuals.  Nicholas is a multi-award winning professional recognized for extraordinary results in organizational transformation, revenue generation, contribution and margin returns. Nicholas has exceptional operational and production service levels expertise, setting strategic directions and goals, as well as directly originating and launching unique and complex business lines via strategic business analysis and business plan design and implementation.  While with Anacomp, Nicholas led the organizational transformation from an analog to a digital based technology, resulting in a ten (10) plus year influx of corporate growth. Included was the development of a Cloud Hosting business; docHarbor which grew at 5x per year until being sold.  At Iron Mountain, Nicholas was the innovator and leader of the Data Center Business line from inception/start-up to major business unit.  Here again, under Nicholas’ leadership the business experienced 10x growth year over year in the initial three years.  Nicholas helped found DataCloud in 2018 to help individuals and organizations maximize their potential and deliver results.

Chad Smith

Chad brings over 24 years of consulting experience with an emphasis in technology strategy, M&A integration, operations improvement, and pricing optimization. His deep knowledge in technical systems provides clients with solutions for their business and emerging technology concerns that positively impact their top line growth and bottom line profitability. Chad’s technical expertise is primarily in designing and implementing large scale operational and technology integration solutions, including operational optimization, enterprise systems, e-commerce solutions, and post-merger integration. Prior to founding Liberty Advisor Group, Chad worked with Accenture, James Martin and Co., and led Enterprise practice at Diamond Management and Technology Consultants. Throughout his career, Chad has guided many Global 500 companies through effective and affordable transformation using a unique value & business-case approach. Chad is also active in local charitable organizations, including Leadership Greater Chicago and The Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago.

Matt Wolf

Founder & CEO, Antonym

Mr. Wolf has over 15 years of experience working with emerging business models and strategic implementations at the highest level of both the public and private sector, internationally and domestic.  Mr. Wolf is Founder and CEO of Antoym (a GlobalEdge company) which serves in various development, commercialization, and strategic partnership roles for several highly distributed cryptocurrencies and enterprise blockchain platforms.  Prior to founding Antonym, he advised and worked in various strategy and client management roles in government and private organizations such as United Talent Agency (UTA), Warner Brothers, Derby County F.C., The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, STATS Inc, The Detroit Land Bank Authority, and ThyssenKrupp.
